thx for the suggestions guys, I'll look at some of these things today. One thing that was a concern to me and was mentioned was at the amp meter. The amp guage is not working on the truck and a previous owner has put a different kind of guage mounted on the underside of the dash. I do happen to have another 77 pw with a 440 in it which I plan to use for spare parts ( body parts are too far gone for me to patch up) so I will take the guage out of it and mebe replace the one in the m882.
Another Question:
The M882 comes with a 24volt charging system. Mine is complete but doesn't have a belt around the generator. I'm thinking that this 24volt system is only used to supply power the power outlets...is this correct? not having this system engaged wouldn't affect anything related to my problem would it? I have all the maintenance manuals that came with the truck and the wiring diagram left me under the assumption that it's not an issue...even tho I noticed that the 12volt charging system somehow affects the relay that the 24volt system is connected to ( when the truck is running and I pull the 24volt system wiring connector off of the relay I can hear the relay disengage etc) this did seem odd, but I never traced the wiring from it to the ignition switch...mebe the relay is actuated by the normal 12 volt system..??
