I registered for private use and since the GVW is under 27k, I don't need a CDL license. My registration shows it as a Kaiser 18,000GVW with a "pick-up" body style. State Farm charges me about $980.00/year for comprehensive with a $1000 deductible, and 100k/300k liabilty. Compared to my 46WDX which is $98.00/year for the same coverage, I thought that was high, but from what I hear, that's what others are paying. Both are registered with regular tags, not antique or collector tags, so i can go anywhere, anytime, and any distance in them. Texas only requires basic safety inspections and only looks for what was "original equipment" on vehicles this old so that's not an issue either. For example, on my 46PW, they only needed to see 1 rear tailight and 1 wiper. No turn signals were required. They did want reflectors on the rear though.
