Yep, that's an NP 435 in yer pic. I have 2 of those also. The shifter cover is 8 bolt and the trans s longer.
NP 420's are the 6 bolt cover.
I have also found two different 435's with the 2X trucks using a different gear set than the 4X trucks.
On the NP 420's I have:
PILOT SHAFT dia.
230-6 3/4 (by tape, not calipers)
318A 3/4
INPUT SHAFT length. (overall, from case)
230-6 7 7/8
318A 9 3/4

SPINE dia/count
(both) 1" 10 spline

BEARING RETAINER length of machined collar
230-6 3 1/2
318A 3 3/4

PILOT SHAFT LENGTH (above spline)
230-6 3 1/2
318A 3 1/2

as an aside, the NP 435 input shaft is virtually identical the the 318 NP420 shaft except the machined-on gear is about 1/2 inch larger diameter.
As far as the difference in the needle bearing that go between the input shaft and the mainshaft in the tranny, the NP435 bearings, if inserted into the rear of the V8 NP420 input gear, are of sufficient size to make the V8 input fit the 230-6 mainshaft end. (one problem outta the way..)
