74 w200 starting problelm

When starting after a few days rest, engine fires almost immediately but then stalls. Choke closing properly (visual). Eventually starts after much too long (minute or so of churning) and runs fine on high idle. Need to let run a few minutes or will stall when put in gear (automatic). Hot starts are perfect. Fuel pump and filter replaced. Any ideas???
