The part that the speedo cable srews onto is what holds the drive gear in.
Remove the cable, and then clean all the grease from around the bottom of that threaded part.
You will find a hex at the bottom like a nut, but a socket on it, and back it off.
You can then remove the one of the drive gears (it just pulls out), and the other peice will be visible.
