The LA and Poly (A) pans should be interchangeable, but you'll have to swap the oil pump pick-up along with the pan. That should work also as the LA high performance oil pump is the stock Poly pump. (just change the pick-up tube and not everything else)
The trannies are a little trickier, there were NP420's with 1" and 1 1/4" in-put shafts, depending upon application (truck size and engine block size). Are you trying to rebuild the trans or are you refering to the shaft hitting the pilot hole on the crank? The LA cast bell fits a \6, some say it also fits an I-6 but my knowledge there is limited. Some export WM300's ran the \6 but did that mean the 251 I-6 and the \6 bells were the same, or did Dodge change the bell? It seems that as long as the bell will mate to the block and tranny (and your starter fits the flywheel) that all you need to change is the clutch to fit the in-put shaft on the tranny.
