1942 Dodge WC-54 ¾ Ton 4X4 Ambulance

$5,500 - will consider trade for ¾ or 1 ton flatbed/stake bed, preferably 4wd(make model not important)

Extensive jpg images available
Call/Write/E-mail with questions

Daimler Chrysler letter & build card verifying mfg date Sept 2nd 1942

NO ambulance hardware - rear step, stretchers, IV Hangers, etc.

Clear Indiana Title, current tags

Purchased May 2001 to "restore" as a user. Was in California near Yosemite when I bought it, know nothing else about its history.

SOME OD still visible under current color - white-ish grey with blue undertone. Markings may still be there but you'd have to strip the paint s l o w l y & with care.

230 flathead 6 - original AFAIK, has "early" intake manifold like half tons - no crankcase metering valve

Half ton headlights

Serial # ground off engine. I have been told that is S.O.P. for rebuilt engines? Don't know what was done to "rebuild" it, or when, but it runs like you wouldn't believe a 60 y.o. engine can run. OIL PRESSURE at start/idle is 50 p.s.i. drops to 40 when warmed up

ACTUAL MILEAGE Unknown - Speedometer/Odometer replaced with (GASP!) Japanese made one - works, showing 6000 of which 900 are mine.

I KNOW the oil pan was removed & replaced due to blue RTV gasket sealer

Rear diff input HAD a neoprene seal - which I replaced
12 volt with generator
Civi Model 36 heater
Civi air cleaner,
Distributor good, (VPW kit goes with truck)

Some goofball cut "windows" in the side to make it a camper and put El Cheapo purple tint in the rear windows. What can I say, it came from California.

Driver's side window glass gone, but mechanism intact and I have wing glass and some hardware - also a complete spare window crank mechanism. Usual ambulance rust at the drip line

Something goofy is going on with home made wiring harness - haven't found out what yet - maybe solved by sale. ALL electrical items DID work before this started in 10/02 STILL starts and runs and ammeter shows charge - just no lights, heater, ventilator, etc.

Carb needs adjustment
Left rear axle hub seal leaks - may get it done by sale also

Have all receipts for parts, etc.
