If you go to the link below and click on question 12, you will see that the most common cause of battery failure is heat causing electrolyte to evaporate.

Should you replace this 15 year old battery?
I hope so. Sometimes batteries can be quite dangerous in the right conditions and this one is a big question mark.

What would you tell your Volvo customer if they were complaining about their 15 year old battery being dry and not starting the car?

By the way, I owned a B-16 for a while. I kept a 18 inch piece of garden hose in the back seat and would use it to beat the car when it would break down or catch fire and leave me to walk. I hear the new ones are much better.
