OT Battery care

I pulled the "appliances" 12V battery out of my camper and it was bone dry. It was also date stamped 10/88. My assumption... it hasn't been serviced for quite awhile! Will it be any good after charging? Tiny bubbles started (very few) in the cells as soon as I added water and applied a charge. Any thoughts?
