I tried something new on my 318 rebuild recently. I was told to start it up and run for a good 20 mins. and then drain it. Put in new oil and run it again for a hour this time. Change it and go for about 500 or 600 and change it and, then go for the regular 3000 miles. I'm at 2000 miles now and waiting for the big three to come around. My oil level hasn't dropped at all.. I guess time will tell on this one..
