I hear what they usually do is cut a M35 down to a 4X4 of whatever length you want and using another set of front spring to mount one of the rear axles. Somebody emailed me a while ago about getting two M35 (Rockwell) front axles to make a 4X4 rock-crawler that would steer at both ends. The further you go with this stuff, the more you might as well just weld up your own frame. Another thing to remember is the Rockwell axles are double-reduction with some huge ratio. M35 residue trucks are cheap right now, especially if you don't want the engine.
