The grease for the front axle knuckles should be pumped through a fitting located on the cap for the upper steering knuckle bushing. (On the driver's side, it is in the steering arm.) The level hole is just that, grease should appear at that hole when the knuckle is filled to the proper level. As mentioned below, pump it till grease appears at the level hole, and then rotate the axle shafts a few times, and repeat the filling proceedure.
