Don't have mine here at the place at the moment, just going from a '62 manual...If you're having a hard time finding it up front off the crankshaft pulley/damper (corresponds with a pointed marker on the timing chain case cover), it says the 251 P400 models (whatever those were) had timing marks located on the flywheel accessible through the hole in the flywheel housing. Guess it would suck to have a P400 with a different flywheel swapped on?

Smarter guys than me will know more timing tricks. I usually adjust it by ear to where it will start and run decent. Probably not the best way, I should buy a timing light : ).

If there are no marks, you could use a dowel to locate TDC on #1 piston and then make marks on your c-shaft pulley and t-case cover, or your flywheel if there's a hole in the housing.

Hope this doesn't post twice, been having troubles with this "full auto" mac, need to check this mouse's timing.
