I had a 68 Chevy K-20 4X4 with a 350, SM420 (The really low 1st gear trans) Rockwell T-221 T-case Dana 44 closed nuckle front, and Eaton full float rear. Very awsome truck. Almost as good as a Dodge or IH in my book. That is one Chevy I regret getting rid of. It had those funky huge heavy hubs that you describe. I had alot of problems with those hubs and I had to gut mine out and run it like that till I could get another set of hubs. Quite a few locals like those older Chevys and a few still run those hubs, altho they leak like crazy, and sometimes the dial setting can be confusing.

In general, I have found that Dana 44 front back in the old days had 2 different "hub" styles, a small "internal" mount and a larger 'external' hub. The hubs being talked about, are the larger external mount. It was mostly the 3/4 ton and larger trucks that used that style of hub. I THINK some Dana 60's used them too. Chevy Discontinued the large hub in the late 70's when they went to using the Corp 10 bolt instead of the Dana 44. IH used it, and Ford used it up thru '78. If you look in the Warn hub catalog, it will give the same part number for Dodge, GM and IH hubs often, IF I recall right.

Wanna see something impressive? From 60-72 Chevy and GMC you could get an Eaton front end! Yea, no kidding! It took a rear Eaton axle, cut the axle tubes accordingly and welded spindles to it! Massive! I saw a 69 like this the other day, a K-20, and that Eaton front had the same hubs as in the photo. I have also been told IHC used the front Eaton in some too. Havent seen it yet.
