I had always used the sequence you posted until I put disc brakes on the front of my M37. Then, I found that bleeding the front first worked better, and bleeding the rear first was an exercise in frustration. While it does not sound like you have discs on your truck, I would try bleeding the front first before I would resort to a power bleeder.
