I want to thank everyone for their help. I seem to have fixed it but really didn’t do anything. I removed the tie rod, checked ball joints all OK. Checked the king pin bearings, tightened up the preload a little on the pass. side, only removed one .005 shim. Also found a little play in the upper bronze cone, the cone is shifting on the shaft at the key way, will order a pair ASAP. Checked the adjustments on the joints on the pitman arm, OK. Tightened the preload on the rebuild Chevy steering box, no slop and a little drag. Everything looks good, so I put it all back together. Put the same tires back on at the same locations. Took it out for a ride, had it up 55+ four times with no shimmy at all.
We will see if it stays that way. Thanks again, see everybody at Hollister in a couple of weeks. Dave
