You are right-in certain areas of the country there was extensive use of salt on the roads in the winter. Combine that with high humidity in the summer and you have quick rust trucks. Here in Iowa we are in the same boat. If you want to find a decent older truck you either pay through the nose for someone that has restored one or go to a dry state and find one fairly cheap. I bought my 59 W200 from Eastern Washington and had it shipped to Iowa.
