One of my neighbours up here still has the old CJ3 jeep that his dad bought new back in the 50's. It came with a governor, and a 540 rear PTO. They had tried pulling various farm implements with it, but found that it overheated, or got stuck too easily. They DID use it for haying, and swathing. It could power the mower or swather without heating, and had the bonus of a higher road speed for moving between fields, or going further away when cutting "ditch hay". Fred said they used it for haying for quite a few years, as it freed up the tractor for other chores, and was faster to boot. My M37 was owned by a farm equipment dealership, and used to haul / deliver farm implements, but not to power them.

Knowing farmers, I'm sure some of them, somewhere, have tried to use a PW for ANYTHING we could possibly think of, and probably for a few things we wouldn't even dream of. Joe L.
