It's worth it if it's what you want.

That's not a bad-looking little truck for $600. Some people, not me and apparently not you, prefer to drive the lighter trucks. '70s are in W300s, W200s mostly run 44 front/60 ff rear axles. If you go with a W200, or use running gear from one, hold out for a big-knuckle front end. I don't like the small knuckle 44s after running them on a '56 IHC S-120 and a '65 Travelall. Have seen them on a lot of '70s W200s.

The slant six is a great engine for a 1/2 ton run-about, but a little light for heavier trucks. Would not be my first choice for running 70s and 35" tires. The '60s poly 318 has great tourque and it's common in the 200s and 300s.

Lots of people know what 70s are worth, hard to find at bottom-feeder prices. At least for me they are. Don't know enough about W300s to say if the axles would swap over, somebody else here will know for sure. 100 and 200 frames are the same width.

IHC frames are narrower than Dodges. Rear IHC frame width is 34", Dodge is 38". I recently bought a '68 IHC 1300C 4X4 (Dana 70 front, IHC 1-ton no-slip rear axle, pto winch) and thought $1,800 was a very good price. Just threw $700 at some new tires, so I'm into it $2,500 now. I would expect to pay at least $3,500 for a W300 in similar shape. Probably is worth it. Dodge bodies hold up better, the winch mount/frame extension system is stronger, and store-bought parts are easier to find.
