I used to run the marine crate 502 engine in my 1980 camaro it had a tendancy to run a little hot about 230 degrees, I think it was due to the fact that there is no water jacket between the center cylinders this would be my only concern for towing heavy. Oh by the way it got less than 9 mpg.
