My lord guys, you seem to be intent on keeping the price of PW parts as high as possible and seem offended that someone would want to get the price of parts back down towards or near the original, if possible! If the guy is making money ,why pay more or better yet, why act as though you want to tell him, "Hey, you can get alot more for those fenders if you want, people will pay dearly for those" Theres no law that says prices must go up or stay high. You do the folks who really got the PW move going an injustice as most of the first PWA subscribers were PW users who got together to find parts to keep working them and relate to each other our love of these old trucks.
What was the dealer price for a set of fenders when they stopped making them or in the mid 70's ? If We can get affordable parts
then why on earth would you care how cheap their sold for? Why purposely or willingly go along with high prices when someone will build and sell them cheaper?
If he saked me what I'd give, I'd say $100 ea. if he scoffed I'd say $150 ea. or $250 a pair. If he still scoffed I'd ask, well whats the least you'd take. I certainly wouldn't act as though anything he asked would be fair. $700 a pair is just too outrageously high when Whole PW parts truck have been had for that. If he's already setup to build them than we should try for a more reasonable price. Of course this is just my opinion, but I have other things I need and want with my hard earned dollars, my life does not revolve around a perfectly restored PW but rather a functional usable PW as it was intended. Just because some can afford to pay outrageous prices to restore their toy project truck to mint condition , why should I have to pay outrageous prices just to keep my WM300 farm truck going and in fair repair?
