1999. Ford purchased the Volvo cars division, Sweden. There's some platform sharing planned in the future, but the Volvo cars/SUVs will remain unique for awhile yet. Ford employees and qualified affiliates can take advantage of FMC A plan & X plan price reductions when buying Volvos.
