You talked me into it. I went back today and got a few photos. Not of it in operation, just siting idle. (The operator was on break.) I did get to talk to him though. He said he thought the machine was an early '60s model. He said the DOT does not use it anymore, but there was some argument over their excavator, so his bosses asked him if he would mind using the dragline to dredge the ditch. I gathered that he felt it was a welcome break from the usual day to day activities. He said there is only one other just like it still in operation that he knows of. The other one is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Iowa DOT uses it with a clamshell bucket to clear log jambs under bridges.
Anyway, I have no place to store photos where I can provide a link to them, so...I sent three of them off to you Todd. Now you're up to bat!
