My dad uses pitch from white fir sap bubbles on the steel pto wheel on his farmall (runs a big flat belt for a buzsaw...plenty of pitch when we're cutting sawmill slabs up for firewood). He says there is some argument about using rosin, some people say it will ruin the belt in the long run. Haven't noticed any problems with the buzz saw's flat belt, but we don't run it for a lot of hours, probably less than 20 hrs a year.
