That sounds similar to what mine was doing although not that extreme. Mine would run fine when cold but stall at idle when warmed up. I also had fuel leaking out of the throttle shaft and the accelerator pump.
If you do a search on Google for "carburetor rebuilders" you'll get lots of hits for companies that will restore your existing carb to factory new specs (assuming that the housing is not broken). I really like that they can flow test them and set them to factory specs.
I just have never had good luck trying to rebuild a carb myself and getting it to run correctly afterwards.
