It would appear that you have misquoted either Joe or myself. I do not see where "THE MARINE" appears? Marine is capitalized because it is a proper noun. If you had ever achieved a milestone in your life, or dedicated your life to helping others or safe guarding your nation in a profession such as an Army Ranger, Marine, or Navy Seal, you would be proud enough to put that earned achievement next to your name. Only a small percentile of 1% can even say that they were qualified enough to be selected, much less actually graduated to earn the right to be called a Ranger or Seal, or Marine.
I think it is a good thing when someone is proud enough of his profession to want to be associated with it. I wonder how many of the people who muddled through my on-line problems the last few weeks put "DSL Tech Rep" after their name? If more did I might have been back on-line in one day, instead of 16.
