My Dad ordered his 1948 Power-Wagon in the fall of 1947. The price was to be $1,800. At that time the prices were controlled by the Federal goverments "ceiling price" which was a policy left in place from World War II, one of the measures enacted to help stabalize the economy. When the Dodge dealer sent word to Dad to come get his Power-Wagon in February of 1948, the "ceiling price" policy had expired and the price had jumped to a whopping $2,100! My Dad was stunned and refused to accept this turn of events. At last, rather than loose the sale of a special order vehicle, the dealer gave Dad an additional $300 for the Ford pickup that he was trading in! This made a total of $600 trade in value, more than Dad had paid for the Ford pickup. Oh, Dad and the owner of the dealership became forever fast friends after this resolution of the sale. I now own and am restoring this Power-Wagon.
