I agree with everything you say. In the earlier thread,
I said that I towed a WM300 with an F-150 for 200 miles.
This was a bit of an adventure but no real problem. Note that
I removed the bumpers and made 1/2 inch plates with holes matching
those on the front of the frame to mate to my tow bar.
More recently, I towed an F-250 with my W500 and found
it to be much less hairy even though I had to descend a 14%
grade of about 2 miles.
Note that I unlocked the hubs and
put the transfer case as well as the transmission in
neutral. The tow was only 20 miles or so and I didn't bother
removing driveshaft.
