If I'm not mistaken, you also have an NP203 transfer case.
If you don't modify it to part-time 4x4, you won't be able
to move the truck with the front hubs unlocked. The 203 has
a center differential which sends all power to the one wheel
of the four which has least traction. With hubs unlocked, that
will be one of the front wheels. The result will be a spinning
axle shaft and nothing else. Peterson's 4 Wheel magazine had
an excellent article about the necessary conversion about a year
ago. I have it but don't remember which month. I will look it up
and post it. I need to do this too on my '77.

Of course, another approach is to change to NP205.
