Hi Bob.....

Yes there is a shear pin ....located near the ball section. You need to remove the cover over that ball. It is at the top of the tower where the lever goes in. That cover on mine is screwed on and should come off easy enough. You will also find a spring in there that keeps things under tension.
You can replace the pin with a suitable "very" hard steel of size that will fit snug in the hole. However, from my experience large nails etc cut to size will break in a matter of months.

What you have to be worried about is where the broken pieces have fallen... probably inside the trans gear cluster. If you are lucky it is stuck in the lubricant at the bottom and maybe will stay there when you are driving on a cold morning and gets suck up in the gears....ouch!!!

WhenI did and redid mine I took off the PTO covers... flushed everything with gasoline and visually inspected the inside and ran my fingers every where I could touch. Did find the broken pin the first time.

While your at it take off the main cover to check the top paert of the cluster.

It's a messy job ........ have fun it's a Dodge>

Bob C.
