I added 4 disc brakes and seat belts for safety, 4:30 ratio's for improved engine duration (not so much speed but to have her not stress at 55mph) and turnsignals hidden within the rear reflectors.
The only modification seen on my truck would be the disc brakes. The owner makes their choices, mine are for safety as I live in fear of plastic japanese car that dart in front of me and slam their brakes on. Now I give them a chance (and my insurance)to live another day. I shudder at how many old vehicles are on the road with brakes designed for cross country 35mph normal operations. I HATED to convert the brakes, but I now have a system as good as any Mercedes that will last MY lifetime. I'm now 38, I want to enjoy my Command Car now while I can turn the steering wheel without creaky joints (mine). I always say a stamp collector can't use his collection, but I can and do. I will never be able to enter a Military vehicle "original" judging, but at least I can drive her there and do it safely. If a vehicle faces a rusty death verses an upgrade, I'll have to side with the upgrade. It's just better if it's done with class and consideration for the original design.
Regards WAW
