PW as daily driver?

I've always been impressed with the old PW's and always wanted one. I'm wondering about drivability mod's/improvements though (that 40-45 cruise 55 MAX thing kinda worries me, likewise "wandering" front ends). What are your opinions on front end/rear end, suspension and engine mods/replacements? I'm curious about opinions on diesel engine swaps also.
