Chrysler flatheads are supposed to have hardened inserts already. It may be that they are not as "hard" as they could be, but I don't

What I was really interested in is the comment that aviation gas will cause valves to burn or pistons to hole. I do not understand this
at all. Aviation gas has a high octane number, which does not affect the energy content at all, but would reduce the tendency to ping.
It should lead to more controlled combustion, which is surely unnecessary in a low compression energy, but I fail to see how this can
have any negative impact.

What is the explanation?
