I picked up the April 1999 Truck Trend magazine last night. It has an article about the new Power Wagon concept vehicle. There is a nice side-by-side shot with Drew Reed's WDX (who's arm is that in the passenger side window?). It includes an interview with Trevor Creed, Vice President, Advanced Design and Exterior Jeep/Truck, Interior Design, Color & Trim., who had the idea of doing a modern interpretation of the Power Wagon, and submitting it for consideration as a concept vehicle.
The interview with Trevor gives you some insight as to how this concept vehicle came to be. And even if the driveline design might need a little tweaking, I think the body design does do justice to keep that original PW styling.
