Capillary temperature bulb

I've got a '53 B-4-PW what has a capillary type temperature guage, but the engine is a
230 flathead six (a D-62) out of a '56 Dodge car. The engine has an electric sender screwed
into the the drivers's side of the head about two inches from the back end. Does anyone know
if there is any reason why the temperature bulb shouldn't fit where the electric sender on this
engine is. Does the bulb go right into the side of the head like a sender, or does it go into
some kind of adapter or thermowell that goes into the head? None of the books I've got have a
clear indication of this.

Thanks
Greg
