: Am seriously considering my very first Power Wagon acquisition - a 1960 Town Wagon. It's been in storage for the past 16.5 years; is in excellent restorable condition; it runs, is located on the East Coast and I wouldn't trust it on a cross-country drive, just yet. At $2250 plus transport (I need some suggestions on this also, as seller can only offer to arrange transport as far as Kansas City, for approx $500 (he knows someone with a single-car carrier that will go that far), am I in the OK range, is it a "steal", or did they "see me coming"? I have approximately seven (7) days to make up my mind.

Mark, I bought my first Power Wagon last August, a '64 Town Wagon for guess what $2250! Everyone I've talked to says this was a fair price. Especially if it was stored for 16 years. It has the usual rust at rear fenders, along the front door seams and floor boards. I had to replace some U-Joints to get it home and it ran real rough. I only had to go about 50 mi. so not to much of a sweat. The major thing I had to fix was the drive train. Both drive shafts had to be rebuilt as well as the rear yoke ($600). The 318 is in great shape and now that I've got it in fair mechanical condition I'm venturing further from home (say 200mi) without incident. I've had it up to 90mph and calculate that it should do 104mph (with 4:10s), I believe it, but will I do it? It gets about 10mpg at a good cruising speed of 55-65 and I can pass people in the mountains (Colorado boy). Just the shears fun of scarin' the Jesus out of BMW drivers is worth $2250! At this point I've got $5500 into it, but that includes a restored Braden winch with original bumper and extensions, new Eaton wheels, BFG 33-12.5-16.5s, and a Weiand 180º Manifold. Buy it - people constantly come up and tell you what a cool truck you've got! Gar 303 444 2787 (W)
