As long as I can remember, a friend of my father has had a neat old truck. Since I was 5, I've wanted it! Now I'm 25 and it's finally for sale!
I now know that it is a '41 Dodge Power Wagon Ambulance.
Since I love history (especially WW2), old cars (I have a '58 Stude. Hawk), and anything else arcane or unusual, I really want this beast!
The truck has been modified somewhat - i.e. painted gray, modern 12V electrics, grill has been cut to fit a modern winch, interior is "patchworked", etc.
It is somewhat rusty, and very well used, but mechanically it is very sound.
It includes a LOT of spare parts and he is asking $2,500. If I buy it, I would like to attempt at least a partial restoration.
At minimum, I would like to fix up the body and paint it OD green.
Also, I don't plan on extensive, abusive 4X4 adventuring, although I know it's had plenty already.
Basically, I would like to know a few things first:
A. is this a fair price?
B. is this thing going to be a constant maintenace headache?
C. is it really rare? (i.e. should I try to find a nicer one?)
D. how hard is it to find both body and mechanical parts?
E. will it run on ordinary, unleaded gas?
My friends and family think I'm nuts, (especially my girlfriend and my parents) but I don't care.
Any advice anyone could give me would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks for any help.

Jeff Perrella, Hibbing, MN
