Hi Joe,

Thanks for your comments. I think you are right
on the money. A restoration means different
things to different people. Some are museum
pieces, some are trailer queen show pieces, some
are driven to shows, some are daily drivers, and
all are used for the personal satisfaction of the
restorer. You pays your money and takes your choice!

Frankly, I'm happier doing a restoration/rebuild
of a vehicle when I am assured of a reasonable amount
of uniqueness (I doubt I'd ever be interested in
a '65 Mustang, or a Model A, for instance), and yet
at a price I can afford. In addition, I must
justify the restoration by actually using the vehicle,
if not on a daily basis, then at least occasionally
for the purpose it was originally intended. As you
say, "have some fun with it".

I'm pleased to see that the vintage PW group seems
to fall in the same category, as the trucks are
definately unique (at least in Southern California,
and most everybody seems to enjoy actually using
their trucks as Dodge intended. To heck with
matching numbers, build sheets,"F-scripted" bolt
heads, etc. If it's all there, lets put it together
and make it go. And a non-original bed is better
than no bed at all!!

Your '68 seems to be comming together nicely. I'm
envious of your results, and hope to do as well
someday soon. Thanks again for the Forum. You've
done each of us a real service.

Pete
