: : I have a 1949 DPW I have repowered with a 1967 304 IHC V8. I used the stock transmission

: Yes, my 540 transmission is an overdrive version. The New Process 540, 541, and 542 5 speed transmissions seem like the best choice for overdrive in a Power Wagon. They came in large trucks, Dodge, Chevy and probably others, typically a dump truck or something. Most were direct drive but can be changed to overdirve by swapping gears. I believe they are shorter than the current NP 4500, which probably is too long without moving the PW transfer case back.

What engine are you using in front of this transmission? Do you know, would a transmisson like this have the correct left side PTO for my winch and PTO? Also, how can I identify a transmission like this?
When I repowered my truck, I had the same radiator problem that you are having and to solve it I switched to a radiator out of a 1951 1 ton IHC. It had the opposite outlets from stock and seems to work just fine. I haven't run it enough to know if overheating will be a problem with heavy loads.
I did have to get a new filler neck soldered onto the top tank.
