: Thanks for the advice. Do I *need* to pull the tranny or can I leave it supported in the frame and pull the engine out the front?

David
I've got a 1951 PW that has recently been
down to the nuts and bolts. Unless the WM300 is
a totally different beast, you will have to pull
the tranny. The bell housing has flanges off of
either side which serve as rear engine mounts. It
might be possible to pull the engine, leaving the
bell housing and clutch assembly but I believe
that it would be a Herculean task that I would not
want to attempt. The transmission has no frame
mounts- only bolts to rear of bell housing, so you
can't just leave the transmission.
The transmission is not too hard to drop out.
Must remove output shaft and floor boards, remove
4 main bolts and she slides back and down-kind of
a groaner by yourself-but can be done as I did it
several times. The front sheet metal is not hard
to remove in principle but may be so if bolts
haven't been out in 30 years. The radiator shell
,grill and radiator comes out as a unit and it is
heavy for one man. Check your clutch disc while
you are at this point. I have seen several that
still have wear left but broken springs.
Can also put in new pedal bushings, clutch
bushings, etc if they are needed at this point.
Much easier to get to.
Good Luck
