Let me jump in on this one. I have a 42-45 WC-52 that is
in need of an engine job. I was given a newer 230 flat head
from a big Dodge flat bed truck, but when we got to measuring
the newer motor had a longer block and it looks like a tight
squeeze fitting it in. I have always hoped that there was a
conversion for a small V8, maybe a 318, to the existing tranny.
I don't want to disrupt the the winch PTO. If anyone knows of an
adapter plate or bellhousing that can be made to work, even if it's
exotic and requires some machining, please let me know whats out there.
