I have recently added a winch to my WM300. If you are using the MU-2, you have to have some frame extensions which vary depending on which engine you have, the 230 or 250. In addition, the PTO varies depending on the year of the tranny you are using. If you have a New Process, it will have helical gears and some of the old straight cut gears wont work. In addition, the military versions of the PTO will work, but the shifting lever is different and it has to be constructed. As far as overall cost of adding an original MU-2 winch, you can expect to spend about 300-500 for the basic winch, 150-200 for the PTO, 50 for the drive shaft, 225 for the frame extensions and new split bumpers which are available from Dennis Sherman, and occasionally a few more bucks for parts, cable etc. One other trick, is if your large brass gear is worn in the winch, you can actually just flip it around as only one side wears and it is the side which gets all the force. If you have any other questions, email me.
