About 15 years ago, or so, I acquired a '57 MGA (please, hold the derisive laughter). I always thought "wires" with "knock offs" were cool, so I scrounged the "yards" and found old running gear that fit. No, I didn't ruin the wheels, but I spent quite a while trying to "thread" the left side "knock offs" before realizing they were left handed. The point of this is that there's a reason for large "knock offs" to be left handed, as they really will looses on you otherwise...but I doubt the same holds true for 1/2"X20 studs. For what it's worth.
: Today I bought new wheels for my '64 W200 crew cab to replace the old split rims. I don't think the wheels had been removed in decades so they fought me all the way. The last one, front drivers side was impossible. I spent half an hour finally resorting to a 3 foot cheater bar to loosen the lug nuts. I'm not a small boy by any means, but even after a full turn on each nut, they still could take all of my weight. Who's the wise guy that made LEFT-HAND THREADS on my wheel?!!
