I finally got one! Made the deal yesterday for a 54 Fargo FC1 vin 83939017. It came with a factory winch, but has been set up as a gin pole truck with the winch moved behind the cab. Is there a way to track the vin back (like the Mopar muscle car guys can) to find out what was on the original build sheet? Is there some visual way ( running board length, mounts, etc.) to tell if it came with a box or as cab+ chassis? The engine is fairly tired, so any thoughts on going B/RB bigblock? (I work in a machine shop as a tig welder/fabricator, so mounts arn't a problem) Has it been done? Is it worth doing? Or should I claw back that Spitfire head/dual carb/split exhaust setup that I sold to a friend for his 48 sedan? THANKS to JOE for this website!!
