: : I attempted to take the lug nuts off for the first time this last weekend and to make a long story short, proceeded to break a craftsman 1/2" throwover into 2 pieces as a result of standing on a 4 foot cheater bar. All of this after applying liberal doses of PB blaster. I don't think my medium size air impact will do it either. Any suggestions other than renting the biggest air impact I can find and putting my two compressors in tandem? Is this an application for 'cherry red' heat? This looks like the work of the 'gorillas' at the truck tire store. First time I've tried to take these off. Also, since I'm on the subject, what other fasteners are notorious for causing grief? Those manifold bolts don't look to good IE should I go buy the right tool(s) now and get it over with? Tks - Scott in Dallas

: Broken PW lug studs are always on the left side of the vehicle, because of the left-hand threads on that side. A good rule to remember is to TIGHTEN FORWARD, towards the front of the truck that is.

I learned the hard way that Chrysler vehicles are
reverse threaded on the driver side, when I twisted
the lugs off a Dodge Valiant. I remembered in time
on my PW, and saved myself some grief
