: I am trying to find a 318 cu in engine for my '53 M37. I want to use the stock NP 420 trans.
: I understand that there is a difference in "old" 318s and "new" 318s. I have been told that the new 318 is narrower. Is this correct? (It's a bit tight between the frame rails in the engine compartment).

: The 1964 W300 Power Wagon used the NP 420 behind the optional 318 engine. Does anyone have one of these bellhousings? Is 1964 old or new 318?

Gil,

The "new" 318 came to life in 1967. This is
basically the same 318 that we know today (with
inor mods.). The old polysphere head was build from
1956-1966.

Hopes this helps.
